It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charlie Joe Hughes of Conover, North Carolina, who passed away on January 4, 2024, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Franklin and Nora White Hughes; and his siblings, Gene Hughes, Bill Hughes, Ed Hughes, Clayton Hughes, Fred Hughes and Dorie Casey.

He is survived by: his children, Sherry Honeycutt (Scott) and Randy Hughes (Lynn); his grandchildren, Keith Jennings (Jennifer), Kyle Hughes and Jessica Boring (Jason); his great grandchildren, Payton and Gavin; his sisters, Patsy Sexton, Suzie Duty and Mary Lou Martin (Butch); and also Larry Hughes (Teresa).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Charlie's name.
