He is survived by: his wife Lorna Gay McLaughlin; his children, Linda McLaughlin LaRose (Paul) of Lenoir, Donna McLaughlin Otto (Robert) of Vero Beach, FL, Michael McLaughlin of Raleigh, Patrick McLaughlin of Durham and Beth McLaughlin (Jeff Nicoll) of Durham; his stepson Josh King (Laura) of Concord; his grandchildren, Melanie, Billy Pierce of Raleigh, Michael, Meghan Poole of Louisburg, Crystal Otto Illidge (Edward) of Vero Beach, FL, Rachel Dye of Lenoir, John McLaughlin of Raleigh, Claire McLaughlin Proum (Kevin) of Chapel Hill and Matthew McLaughlin (Sarah) of Durham; his great grandchildren, Abby, Gracie Pierce of Raleigh, Charlotte Illidge of Vero Beach, FL and Jackson Thompson of Lenoir; his sister-in-law Shirley McLaughlin of Fort Mill, SC; and his stepgranddaughter Bella King of Concord.
