She was predeceased by: her husband Everett Helms; her parents, James Thomas Blackwelder and Nora Elizabeth Blackwelder; and her siblings, Rena McPhatter, Catherine Petrea, Ray Blackwelder, Ralph Blackwelder, Alice Dorton and Adelaid Blackwelder.
She is survived by: her son Everett "Sonny" Helms, Jr. (Kay); and her granddaughter Katie. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
