He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Smith Gardner Burgin and Clyde Gardner; his wife Millie Honeycutt Gardner; and his brothers, Bobby Gardner and Oscar Gardner.
He is survived by: his son Rick Gardner (Jonathan Evans) of Concord; his grandson Joshua Gardner (Matthew Cox) of Greenville, NC.; and his siblings, Doris Smith (James) of Wingate, Lillian Hopkins of Kure Beach, Brenda Morris (Darwin) of Royce City, TX, Joyce White (Greer) of Frisco, TX and Jerry Gardner (Brenda) of Huntersville.
