He was predeceased by: his parents, Hurley Lonze Harwood and Mary Dick Harwood. He is survived by: his children, Tammy Harwood Pannell, Joseph Emanuel Harwood and Jonathan Hurley Harwood (Savannah Duncan); his grandson Levi Hurley Harwood; and his siblings, Phillip Anthony Harwood (Tony) of Albemarle, Randy Lee Harwood of Salisbury, Matthew Alan Harwood of Mt. Pleasant and Linda Harwood Johnson of Albemarle.
