He was predeceased by: his parents, William Edgell and Mary Jane Perry Griffith; and his siblings, Joyce Oliver, Thomas Griffith, Robert Griffith and Johnny Simpson.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Drye Griffith; his daughter Amy Melia Griffith; his grandson Lance Hugh Griffith of Concord; and his brother William E. Griffith, Jr. of Charlotte. He is also survived by many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
