He was predeceased by: his parents, David Ross "Jack" Barnette and Bonta Ferrell Barnette; his wife Hazel Wiggins Barnette; his siblings, Mamie Gibson, Marshall Barnette (MD), Eugene Barnette and Lloyd Andrew Barnette; and his grandson David Barnette.
He is survived by: his children, Allen Barnette (Peggy) of Leland, Michael Barnette of Raleigh, Paul Barnette (Mary) of Abington, VA, Patricia Putnam (Ed) of Charlotte and Bonnie Hutchins (Kermit) of Cherryville; and his brother Sterling Barnette (Kathy) of Homosassa, FL. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
