He is survived by: his wife Nancy Earnhardt Ballard; his daughters, Cindy Barringer (Tim) of Concord, Stephanie Johnson (Doug) of Enochville and Kristy Simpson (Jimmy) of Concord; his sister Anita Wyatt (Alex) of Alpharetta, GA; his grandchildren, Kayla Furr (Johnathan) of Norwood, Justin Shore of Concord, Noah Simpson of Concord and Nickolas Simpson of Concord; his great grandchildren, Haven Furr, Macie Furr, Oaklynn Shore and Raelynn Shore; and his close friends, Greg Smart and Eloise Murchison.
