He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Franklin and Helen Bowles Simpson; and his sister Dionne S. Whitley. He is survived by: his wife Monika Z. Simpson; and his daughters, Lauri Ann Gibson-Barkley (Lisa Tackett) and Heidi Moore (Randy).
