She was predeceased by: her parents, Gilbert Oliver Monroe and Johnnie Morris Monroe; her husband Herbert Hale Wellman, Jr.; her son Joel Andrew Wellman; and her sister Gayle Monroe Foley.
She is survived by: her children, Richard Kevin Wellman of Concord and Amy Wellman Sanders (Christopher) of Matthews; and her siblings, Charles Ray Monroe (Susan) of Winston Salem and Geraldine Monroe Borgman. She is also survived by three grandsons.
