He was predeceased by: his parents, Elona Scott Hatley and James J. Hatley, Sr.; his wife Louise Crowe Hatley; his son-in-law Kenny Buckwell; and his siblings, Martha "Lucy" Goodman, Dorothy Hatley Garmon, Bobby Lane Hatley, Donald Edward Hatley and James "Earl" Hatley.
He is survived by: his daughters, Niccole H. (Nikki) and Shanin H. Buckwell of Concord; his grandchildren, Jessica Little Rowland (Hunter), Christian Ray Little (Michal), Robert Dillon Little (Alison), Hunter Buckwell (Ronni) and McKenna Buckwell; and his great grandchildren, Daxton Rowland, Caden Rowland, Lainey Rowland, Oliver Little and Tucker Buckwell. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
