It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Basil Manly Watkins Jr. of Concord, North Carolina, born in Durham, North Carolina, who passed away on October 3, 2024, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Basil Manly may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his father Basil M. Watkins, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Martha Hobbs Watkins; his nieces and nephews, Howard Hobbs (Mary Jo), Harriet Burch (John), Alan Matthews, Jan Turpin (Jeff), Mary Gonzales and Bill Hobbs (Amy); and also Corky Collins. He is also survived by numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and even great-great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of one's choice in Basil's honor.
