He was predeceased by: his parents, Irvin R. Swain, and Virgie Calhoun Swain, Sr.; his wife Peggy Hixson Swain; and his brothers, Dennis W. Swain Sr. and Irvin R. Swain, Jr..
He is survived by: his children, Charles Stanley Swain, Jr. of Columbia and Denise Swain of Columbia; and his grandchildren, Charles Allen Walker, Letty Swain-Hernandez, Juletta Swain, Chris Swain and Stephannie Bazzle (Justin). He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
