She was predeceased by: her son Don Ray Byrd; her grandson Jason Cartwright; and her siblings, Inez Langdon Smith of Laura Bowden, John Thomas "Tom" Ryan and John Paul "Slick" Ryan.
She is survived by: her husband Edison C. Byrd of Coats; her children, Edward Earl Byrd (Joan) of Fuquay-Varina, Bobby Byrd (Brenda) of Angier, Joan B. Tart (Billy) of Coats, William Byrd (Debbie) of Coats, Gale B. Turlington (Alex) of Coats and Tony Byrd of Coats; and her siblings, Dorothy "Boggy" Ryan of Spring Lake, Christine "Cricket" Ryan of Spring Lake, Alexander Ryan (Mary Lou) of Spring Lake, Becky Cornell of Spring Lake and William H. "Bo" Ryan of Spring Lake. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren.
