He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Alexander Stines and Ruth Louise Miller Stines; his brother Charlie Alexander Stines, Jr.; and his half-brother Robert Stines. He is survived by: his wife Tena Cathey Stines; his children, Tamra Rhinehart (Dean) of Waynesville, Steve Stines (Angie) of Canton and Ken Stines (Marsha) of Canton; his sister Wanda Pressley (Sam); his grandchildren, Ethan Rhinehart (Candace), Tenecia Conner and Dylan Kiser of Clyde; his great grandchildren, Kylie, Annabelle, Kaiden, Emilee, Bella, Nadia and Madelynn; and his cousins, Gary (Annette), Jerry (Ivis), Sheila (Ernie) and Ben.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marjorie McCune Memorial Center for the benefit of Bill Osborne Cottage, 101 Lions Way, Black Mountain, NC 28711.
