It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joanna Penland (Clyde, North Carolina), who passed away on May 25, 2020, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Joanna Penland to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Neal and Blanche Hall Neal; her husband Stephen Penland; her daughter Debbie Swanger Deal; and her sister Helen Neal Freeman.
She is survived by: her daughter Amy Swanger Wilde (George) of Staley; her stepdaughter Kara Penland; her sons, Buz Swanger (Freda) of Canton, Darrell Swanger (Dani) of Canton and Greg Swanger (Melinda) of San Antonia, Texas; her stepsons, Stephen Kelly Penland (Dawn) and Andrew Penland; and her sisters, Edith Ray and Judy VanNewhouse of Lake Jackson, Texas. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 2 step-grandchildren.
