He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Haney and Edith Haney; and his son Bobby Beasley. He is survived by: his pet Freckles; his wife Alice Green Haney; his children, James "Terry" Haney Jr. (Joy), Jacque Sherrill (Tony) and Sherri Palmer (Jimbo); his grandchildren, Chris Haney, Jason Sherrill, Jordan Beasley, Cody Beasley Tasha Ball, Dustin Palmer, Jessica Palmer and Hunter Haney; and his brother Larry. He is also survived by one sister, Mo; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Maggie Valley Fire and Rescue, Johnathan Valley Fire Department, and Haywood County EMS.
