He was predeceased by: his parents, James Clinton Sorrells, Sr. and Sophia Clark Sorrells; the mother of his children Maxine Smith Sorrells; his son James Rickey Sorrells; and his siblings, Iona Mehaffey, Garrett Sorrels, Homer Sorrells and Charles Sorrells.
He is survived by: his wife June Smith Sorrells of Canton; his daughter Rita S. Sorrells-Stephenson (Charles) of Clyde; his grandson David J. Sorrells (Crystal) of Clyde; his great grandchildren, Jacob L. Sorrells of Clyde, Levi McCall of Clyde and Noah McCall of Clyde; his brother Frank C. Sorrells (Wanda) of Clearwater, FL; and his sister-in-law Wilma Sorrells of Canton. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
