He was predeceased by: his parents, James Higgins and Nora Higgins; and his siblings, Stuart Higgins, Tom Higgins and Lawanda Troutman.

He is survived by: his son Joe Higgins; and also Linda Rathbone. He is also survived by her children and grandchildren.
