He was predeceased by: his parents, Jay Samuel Owenby and Hallie Mashburn Owenby; his wife Pamela Pless Owenby; and his siblings, Betty Smith, Melvin of Canton, Marvin of Canton and David Owenby of Canton.

He is survived by: his daughters, Kristy Heatherly (Jeff) and Tammy Leatherwood (Kevin); and his siblings, Marshall Owenby (Ruth), Luzean Russell of Canton, Rosa Mae Brown of Canton and Hazel Macemore (John) of Canton. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
