She was predeceased by: her parents, Vaston Elliott and Bettie Mildred Hudson Byrd; her husband Carl Duell Bass; her daughters, Margaret Elaine Bass Bryant and Edith Yvonne Bass Wilson; her grandchildren, Carl Victor Carter, Brenda Rose Carter and Penny Lee Smith Bradshaw; and her siblings, David Byrd, Raymond Byrd and Pearl Lewis.
She is survived by: her children, Betty Bass Smith (Charles) of Turkey, Larry Duell Bass (Gail) of Sanford, Carl Wayne Bass (Cathy) of Clinton and Sylvia Bass Pope (Patrick) of Clinton; her brother Elliott Byrd (Jane) of Virginia; her sister-in-law Esther Byrd Shields; and her caregivers, Alice Best, Sheree Peterson and Wendy Melvin. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 4th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel (301 McKoy St, Clinton, NC 28328). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Flowers are welcomed, but memorials may be made to Beulah Baptist Church Building Fund.
