It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ellen Larue Snider Whitaker of Climax, North Carolina, who passed away on June 26, 2023, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ross Rhodus and Amelia "Melie" Ann Butner Snider; her husband George A. Whitaker, Jr.; and her siblings, Doris Snider Smith, Charles R. Snider and Lloyd B. Snider.

She is survived by: her children, Pamela Whitaker (David J. Craven) and Richard Whitaker (Faylene W. Whitaker); her grandsons, Shane A. Whitaker (Kelly), Travis K. Whitaker (Shannon), Jonathan R. Craven (Heather) and Austin N. Craven (Casey Taylor); and her great grandchildren, Lilly, Chase, Peyton Whitaker, Alice and George Craven.
