He was predeceased by: his parents, Hasten Carter and Delores Wright Carter; and his brothers, James "Smiley" Carter and Thomas Albert Carter. He is survived by: his wife Jean Carter; his daughters, Delores Hamrick (Gary) of Ellenboro and Donna Schwind (Robert) of Johnson City, TN; and his sister Mattie Green of Bostic.
