He was predeceased by: his parent Vess Albert Powell, Sr.; and his siblings, Cecil Powell and Emma Lou Grigg. He is survived by: his parent Inez McKee Powell; his wife Ruth Whisnant Powell; his children, Gary Powell (Marilyn) of Polkville and Sherry Lawson (Frank) of Ellenboro; his sister Elaine Horn (Bill) of Shelby; his grandchildren, Kelly Morris (Josh), Laura Gammons (Patrick) and Kim Collins (Randall); and his great grandchildren, Cade Morris, Eva Raine Morris, Harper Gammons, McCoy Gammons, Easton Collins and Landon Collins.
