With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Robert Clayton Pope of Cleveland, North Carolina, born in Mount Mourne, North Carolina, who passed away on October 3, 2022 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parent Rockwell Pope; his wives, Sophia Josephine Beaver and Patty Sue Benfield; his sisters, Mildred Cleo Pope Johnson, Dorothy Winona Pope and Margaret Marie Pope; his children, Clayton Pope, Jr. and Sandra Leigh Cocciadiferro; and his grandson Michael Williams.
He is survived by: his children, JoAnn Leatherwood (Larry), Deborah Renee Knox (Danny) and Ronald Lee Moore (Teresa); and his children-in-law, Bonnie Pope and Pat Cocciadiferro. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amity Lutheran Church, 1367 Ostwalt Amity Road, Cleveland, NC 27013.
