With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Guy Richard Byrd of Cleveland, North Carolina, born in Kannapolis, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 5, 2024 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the sacred silence of farewell, Guy is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that his light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of his loved ones. And as his memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Guy's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Wilson Byrd and Lillian Smith Byrd; and his sister Helen Dixon. He is survived by: his wife Carol Hoffman Byrd; his daughters, Deborah Susan Leitch, Cathy Diane Myers, Donna Gail Byrd (Donna White) and Cheryl Denise Gantt (Charles Gantt); and his stepdaughter Julie Beth Holt (David Duane Holt). He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Red Cross.
