He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Bulo Smith and Margaret Helena Green Smith. He is survived by: his daughter Patsy Smith Scruggs of Rutherfordton; his siblings, Marvin Bulo Smith, Jr. of Polkville, Charles Ray Smith of Casar and Elowise Smith Ledford of Casar; and his grandchildren, James Ray Pursley and Thomas Gordon Pursley. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
