He was predeceased by: his parents, O. B. Watkins and Margaret Spaugh Watkins; and his wife Mary Ann Sloan Watkins. He is survived by: his children, Kirt Watkins (Marcine) and Lori Eckenrode (Billy); his grandchildren, Madison Brewer (Justin), Meredith Poplin (Cody), Sloan Watkins and Griffin Watkins; his great grandchildren, Wyatt Poplin, Kennedy Poplin and Barrett Poplin; and his siblings, Richard Watkins (Becky) and Tinky Drane (Johnny). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 13th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Yadkin Valley Baptist Church (1324 Yadkin Valley Rd, Advance, NC 27006). A funeral service was held on Monday, January 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
