He was predeceased by: his parents, Asa Griffin and Wanda Griffin Stewart; and his wife Sheila Lockridge Griffin. He is survived by: his daughter April Griffin Thomas of Asheville, NC; his grandsons, Griffin Thomas of Nashville, TN and Tucker Thomas of Asheville, NC.; his stepson Nicholas Mitchell (Mindy); his granddaughters, Sierra Mitchell and Bristol Mitchell; and his siblings, John Keith Griffin (Robin) of Kernersville, NC and Debbie Campbell of Reidsville, NC. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
