He is survived by: his wife Jeanne Ross Patterson; and his children, Linda Patterson Morris (Jeff), Bruce Patterson (Kim Giese), NJ, Mike Patterson and Missoula. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He supported Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway and The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation.
