He was predeceased by: his father Carson Whitehead; and his siblings, Bob, Bud Whitehead of Johnson City, TN, Sarah Sellers of Johnson City, TN and Jean Stewart of Springfield, TN..
He is survived by: his wife Jean Whitehead; his children, Joan Heck (Andy) of Asheville, NC and David (Debbie) of Mocksville, NC; and his granddaughters, Heather Rodgers (Bryce) of Harrisonburg, VA and Hannah Campbell (Taner) of Hendersonville, NC.. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
