He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Annie Davison Murphy and Francis Joseph Murphy; his wife Janet Strickland Murphy; his children, Terry Lee Murphy (Steven Hovey), Patrick D. Murphy and Shawn T. Murphy (Loraine); his grandsons, Andrew S. Hovey, Michael T. Murphy, Matthew J. Murphy and Darin Murphy; and his siblings, June Bell and Francis Murphy (Norah). He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any West Forsyth High School sports programs.
