She was predeceased by: her husband Ernest Brown; her children, William Alexander Shives and Teresa Nadine Shives; and her sisters, Mary Shives Michaux and Diann Dula Corpening.
She is survived by: her sons, Jeff Shives of Charlotte and Edwin Eugene Brown of Paterson; her brothers, Joseph Shives of Cincinnati and Robert Shives of Lenoir; her granddaughter Antoinette White Davis; and her nephews, Edmond and Everett Dula. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
