With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Oates Jr. (Clemmons, North Carolina), born in Columbia, South Carolina, who passed away on August 27, 2019 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Graham and Mary Evelyn Hamrick Oates; and his son James C. Oates. He is survived by: his wife Ann Smedley Oates; his daughters, Kimberly Oates Caudle and Jami Oates Morgan (John); his stepdaughters, Amanda Black and Kelly Cozart; his grandchildren, Jay Caudle, Sarah Wheeler (Mitch), Laura Graham (Andrew), Ryan Black, Hayley O'Barr (Patrick) and Logan Cozart; his great grandchildren, Aidan and Audrey Caudle; and his sister Dorothy Oates Bowden.
