He was predeceased by: his parents, Rufus Edgar and Stella Faircloth Smith; and his siblings, Daniel Gray, Dallas "Buck" Smith and Dorothy Walker.
He is survived by: his wife Jo Ann Johnson Smith; his children, Dewey Odell Smith, Jr. (Linda) and Avesta Everhart (Bobby); his grandchildren, Sunny Nelson (Marc), Nikki Hurst, Mason Smith (LaRae), Joshua Smith (Katie) and Bobby Everhart, II (Vicki); his great grandchildren, Taylor Hurst (Chelsea), Donovan Smith, Logan Eastman, Liam Smith, Lucy Nelson, John Smith, Charli Hall, Emerie Everhart, Jaxon Everhart, Jagger Everhart, Paxton Proctor and Phin Proctor; and his sister Dora Lee Wright. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
