Payne (Clayton, North Carolina), born in Washington, District of Columbia, who passed away on May 6, 2023, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, George L. Payne and Evelyn Lambert Payne; his wife Roberta Taylor Payne; his brother Donald; and his daughter-in-law Paula Payne.
He is survived by: his children, Susan Locklear (Hearbert), Andy Payne and Christopher Payne; his grandchildren, Mikaela, Cameron, Bryce, Caleb, Katie and Saige; his great grandchild Harper; and his brother Johnny (Cindy).
Memorials may be made in his memory to: SECU Hospice House, American Legion Post 13 Wilson baseball team or American Legion Post 132 Smithfield softball team.
