With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Irene LaVaughn Bennett in Clayton, North Carolina, born in Wallace, Nebraska, who passed away on December 9, 2023 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Rev. Vernon H. Thomas and Irene Violet Thomas; her husband Basil O. Bennett; her daughter Melody Jean Adkins; and her brother Charles George Thomas.
She is survived by: her children, Penny Atwood (Paul) of Clayton and Tom Bennett (Betty) of Beckley; her son-in-law Rick Adkins; and her grandchildren, Kelly Dove (Joshua), Amy Alford (Ashley), Brandon Bennett (Cassie), Joshua Bennett, Andrew Bennett (Allison), Toni Daniel and Paul Adkins.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the building fund at Beckley Church of God at 2213 South Kanawha Street in Beckley, West Virginia 25801, OR to the mission fund at Garner Church of God at 2208 Benson Road in Garner, North Carolina 27529.
