With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Erlene Coates Wheeler (Clayton, North Carolina), who passed away on June 1, 2022 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Daniel Coates and Sarah C. Coates; her husband Harold Wheeler; and her sons, Thomas Harold Wheeler and William Harold Wheeler.
She is survived by: her daughter Starr Wheeler Hardee (Terry); her grandchildren, Lacey Elizabeth Hardee, Sara Hardee Sutphin (Matthew), Holly Starr Hardee and Dane Wheeler Hardee; and her great grandchildren, Hayes Hardee Sutphin, Savannah Starr Powell, William Wheeler Sutphin and Hugh Hudson Powell. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church.
