He was predeceased by: his parents, John Forrest and Marion MacDonald Forrest; and his brother Daniel Forrest. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Seraphina Forrest; his sons, Edwin (Debbie) and Steven (Jennifer); and his siblings, John, Paul and Marion Sweeney. He is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
