He was predeceased by: his parents, Rossie Massengill and Gladys Messer Massengill; and his brothers, Ronnie Massengill, Raymond Massengill and Ray Massengill.
He is survived by: his sons, Wayne Adams of Smithfield and Derwood "D. J." Massengill of Benson; the mother of his children Jeanette Adams of Selma; his siblings, Rossie Massengill, Jr. (Sue) of Pine Level and Betty Jean Massengill of Clayton; his grandchildren, Hunter Adams, Gabby Adams, Charity Messer, Makayla Adams, Tyler Massengill (Monica) and Elizabeth Massengill; and his great grandchildren, Paisley Adams, Madelyn Adams, Brooke Massengill and Taylanie Massengill.
