He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Warner Carpenter and Dorothy Sweeny Carpenter; his wife Janice Edelmann Carpenter; and his daughter Diana Saltalamacchia. He is survived by: his children, Deborah Stafford (Mark) of Patterson, NY, Donna Carpenter of Clayton, NC and David W. Carpenter, Jr. (Karinna) of Clayton, NC; and his sisters, Betty Ann McKay and Martha Dempsey. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
