He was predeceased by: his parents, William Glenn Patterson and Mattie Louise Smith Patterson; and his sister-in-law Kathy De Maar. He is survived by: his wife Joyce DeHaan Patterson; his children, Anne Patterson of Anderson, SC, Faith Patterson of Wendell, NC, Jennifer Patterson of Zeeland, MI and David Patterson of Wendell, NC; his siblings, Doris Tillman (Frank) of Bel Air, MD and William Patterson, Jr. (Esther) of New Bern, NC; his brother-in-law Larry De Maar of Linden, MI.; his nephews, Ben Tillman (Allison), William Patterson III, Grant Patterson (Madison), Michael De Maar (Nichole) and Ben De Maar (Katelyn); his niece Lora Postma (Jon); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Lily, Cora Tillman, Aiden, Madelyn, Nolan De Maar, Micah, Annika, Maya Postma and Caleb De Maar.
