He was predeceased by: his parents, Walker Meggs and Hazel Bullard Meggs; his wife Vernelle Strickland Meggs; and his sisters, Marilyn Lewis and Peggy Preetorious.
He is survived by: his children, Woody Meggs (Sabine) of Clarkton, Chris Meggs (Holly) of Elizabethtown and Paula Meggs of Whiteville; his sister Opal Smith of Matthews; his grandchildren, Matthew Meggs (Karlie), Emily Meggs and Robert Meggs; and his great grandchildren, Meredith and Malachi.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Clarkton First Baptist Church or charity of one's choice.
