He was predeceased by: his parents, James Marion Ransom and Zelma Ransom; his wife Merle Bass Ransom; and his siblings, Wanda "Sister" Hardee, Rodney and William "Bill" Ransom.
He is survived by: his children, James Eric Ransom (Lea Ann) and Melissa Ransom Young (Ricky); his sister Joan Meutsch (Tom); his grandchildren, Erica Parks (Austin), Brae Foulke, Nolan Bailey, Brett Young, Cade Ransom and Taylor Young; and his great grandchild Levi Hunter Parks. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
