He was predeceased by: his parents, James Wade Hudson Sr. and Betty Goodrich Hudson; his wife Myra Jeanne Hudson; his grandson Jason Lynn Helms Jr.; and his siblings, J. W. Hudson, Jerry Hudson, Lois Wright, Nellie Sullivan and Ruby Weathington.

He is survived by: his children, Jimmy Clayton Hudson Jr. and Betsy Helms (Jason) of Bladenboro; and his grandchildren, Staci Helms, Jason Lynn Helms III, Courtney Briana Hudson and Brycen Blackmon.
