He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Lowe and Myrtle Parker Smith; his siblings, James Albert Smith and Gerline Hendrix; his niece Michelle Thompson Kelly; his parents-in-law, Ferris and Vivian Hester; his brother-in-law Joseph Hester; his sister Linda; and his brother-in-law Ray White.
He is survived by: his daughter Lynn Settlemeyer; his grandson Andrew of Leland; his sister Thetus Ransom (Herman) of Bladenboro; his nephew Joe Thompson (Wendy); his niece Mariska (Jan Maynor) of Lumberton; his sister-in-law Frances Hester of Bladenboro; his niece Jessica White (DJ Schmale) of Elizabethtown; and his pet Charlie. He is also survived by special friends, neighbors, and cousins.
