He was predeceased by: his parents, Forest Otto and Olive Pearl Spivey Fowler; his wife Patricia Diane Spivey Fowler; and his brother Larry Fowler. He is survived by: his children, Robert Fowler (Karen) of Rocky Point, NC, Jeffrey Fowler of Clarendon, NC, Michelle Ann Norris (Neal) of Tabor City, NC and Kelley Fowler (Terry) of Tabor City, NC; his sisters, Barbara Housand of Leland, NC and Susan McKillop of Florida; and his grandchildren, Heather, Quincey, Alicia, Gwen, Forest, Justin, Kendall, Jill and Sunshine. He is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren.
