He is survived by: his wife Alpha Tomblin Buchanan; his daughter Lillian Deal (Curtis) of Taylorsville; his brother William "Billy" Buchanan (Rachel); and his grandchildren, Jonathon Deal, Amber Deal and Bryan Deal. He is also survived by three nieces; and two nephews.
