It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joyce Mathis Adams of Claremont, North Carolina, born in Catawba, North Carolina, who passed away on August 9, 2023, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Claude Mathis and Mary Ingle Mathis; her siblings, Lillie Dellinger, Claude Mathis Jr., Wilbert Mathis and Eugene Mathis; her son Darrell Adams; and her granddaughter Elizabeth Sherrill.

She is survived by: her husband Fate Linnie Adams; her niece Donna Hoyle (Carroll) of Newton; her sister Faye Walters (Irene Heavner) of Conover; her grandchildren, Joshua Adams, Natasha Adams and Merideth Barlow; and her great grandchildren, TaCara Adams, Erin McKinzie, Jarviasia Woods, Tyerica Tobler, Daniel Sherrill, Jacob Sherrill and Paxton Sherrill.
