He was predeceased by: his parents, James Richard Saine, Sr. and Cordia Beard Saine; his wife Margie Leonhardt Saine; and his brothers, Daniel Saine and Louie Saine.

He is survived by: his sons, James Richard Saine III of Conover, Kelley L. Saine of Catawba, Larry R. Saine of Claremont and Dale A. Saine (Audrey) of Claremont; his siblings, Jerry Edward Saine (Bernice) of Icard, Delores Keller of Hickory and Linda Lambert (Wayne) of Sanford; and his grandchildren, James Richard Edward Saine, Victoria Lynn Saine, Kristy N. Saine, Krystal Leigh Saine, Casey Lee Saine, Katie Elora Saine, Jennifer Cowick, Paige Brown, Angela M. Avery and Christy Avery.
